RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), a program of the Catholic Church, is oriented towards those who are searching and inquiring about the Catholic way of life. The people are initiated into the Catholic Church through the celebration of BaptismConfirmation and the Eucharist. These are known as the Sacraments of Initiation.

While this program is oriented for adults, it accepts teenagers who are mature enough to participate in the RCIA.

The RCIA program is a journey over four periods.

  1. It begins with the period of Inquiry and Maturing
  2. The second is called the Catechumenate.  This period focuses in detail on the Gospels and Prayer.
  3. The third period of purification and enlightenment take place during Lent. Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands of are baptized into the Catholic Church. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
  4. The fourth and final period is celebrated during the Easter season. This allows the newly baptized to be included in the Catholic community and fully experience the sacraments.

If you are looking to be initiated in the RCIA or have questions regarding it, please contact the Parish Office during regular working hours.
