Reflection

Our king was counted among criminals and crucified! He refused to save himself, nor did he remove his fellow sufferers from the crosses of pain. By embracing human powerlessness, Jesus saved all who acknowledge him as Lord. Like the good thief, we who now share in Jesus’ suffering will also share his glory. But do we disciples willingly accept for the Church that role which Jesus chose for him-self? Or do we want the Church to have the world’s power and prestige? Such a triumphant community has nothing in common with its crucified Lord. Descendant of king David whom we meet in today’s first reading. Christ is the shepherd-king who leads his people in truth not in triumph. The Colossian hymn tells us that Jesus, first in creation, is first in redemption through his reconciling death. Is reconciliation our priority as we follow Christ our king? What God plans for Christ’s disciples far surpasses worldly prestige, just as the title given Christ in mockery cannot describe his present glory.

Welcome To St. Joseph’s Prayer Group

St Joseph’s Prayer Group meets every Thursday in the Church Hall for Prayer Service. We commence with the Rosary at 7.25 p.m. This is followed by Praise & Worship, Reflection/ Teaching. During the Intercession time, through powerful and strong invocation to the Holy Trinity, we lift to God prayer re-quests received from members, parishioners as well as the community. We end the service with sharing and fellowship. It has been gratifying to note the many answered prayer requests. Praying together and for one another is a beautiful gift, which not only comforts but, strengthens our faith and hope in our earthly trials and journey. We welcome all Parishioners/Guests. Come experience God’s peace and healing embrace.
