SSVP Year End Report – 2024

As we reflect on 2024, we are deeply grateful for your unwavering generosity and support. Your contributions have allowed us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many within our parish boundaries and the surrounding community. Below is a summary of our accomplishments and the impact of your kindness, thank you:
Overview of Activities
- 288 home visits completed, assisting 92 families, including 127 children and 218 adults.
- Your ‘Neighbours-In-Need’ donations totaled $34223, while our expenditures were $36294.
- ‘Gifts-in-kind’ donations were valued at $3000.
- We began the year with $655 in cash and $11120 in gift cards. By year’s end, we had a surplus of $1591 in cash and $8113 in gift cards.
Support Provided
Your donations enabled us to offer vital assistance to those in need, including:
- Food assistance: PC gift cards totaling $27325.
- Clothing and personal items: Gift cards for Salvation Army, National Thrift, and Walmart totaling $1,900.
- Furniture and beds: Items from our SSVP store and donated goods valued at $1,403.
- Transportation support: Presto tickets totaling $1,648.
- Winter coats for kids: In collaboration with the Knights of Columbus, 43 winter coats were distributed, costing $345.
- Back-to-school assistance: Walmart gift cards helped 54 children, costing $1,350.
- Summer camp for children: 24 children attended boys and girls camps, marking a return to pre-pandemic participation.
Christmas Appeal Highlights
During our Christmas Appeal, we supported 69 families and 96 children, providing:
- Food assistance: PC gift cards totaling $8925.
- Gifts for children: Walmart gift cards for those under 16, totaling $2725.
- Transportation: Presto tickets valued at $264.
- Christmas cheer: A box of Christmas cookies for each family, totaling $783.

Our Bundle-Up Weekends in April and September were a resounding success, thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our parishioners.
