Reflection

John’s gospel promises the Spirit. In John’s perspective, the piercing of Jesus’ side on the cross with the pouring out of blood and water releases the Spirit to the Church. For this is the moment of Jesus’ glorification; at last his identity and the depth of his love are revealed. To satisfy our deepest longing, Jesus gives to those with faith new life in the Spirit, who leads us to our destiny. The Old Testament readings contrast the disunity of the human family unable to communicate with one another to the unity wrought by the Spirit (Genesis); or speak of God’s appearance in fiery form as a figure of the Spirit (Exodus), as also his breathing new life into dry bones (Ezekiel); and the giving of the Spirit to all humankind without partiality (Joel). God renews the world in the power of the Spirit at work in creation, but this work is not yet complete. In seeking God we discover our powerlessness; the Spirit, who prays to God for us, supplies for our weakness.

DEVELOPING A POWERFUL PRAYER PERSONA

June 22nd, 2019 @ 7:00 p.m.

Stella Maris, 21550 Bathurst Street, Holland Landing

St. Padre Pio once stated: prayer is like oxygen for the soul! Prayer is our conversation with God; a time to bring our worries to the Lord and to quietly reflect on his answers. Yet, often our prayer life seems dry and unproductive-more a monologue than a dialogue. No matter where you are in your faith journey, this talk will give you some practical tips to get your prayer life going and take your conversations with God to a deeper level.

Come join us on the picturesque banks of the East Holland River for an evening of prayerful reflection.

Cost: $15.00, includes refreshments
