REFLECTION
In today’s Gospel the apostles ask Jesus, ‘Lord, increase our faith.’ Faith is essential to the Christian mission. With the little faith we have, if we ask God to increase it and multiply it, not by our efforts but through Him we will be able to move mountains. But we must not glory in it or what it allows us to achieve. We must remember that we are only servants of God and whatever work we do for the Kingdom is our duty. The first reading emphasizes the importance of faithful work despite the apparent triumph of evil. The faithless will eventually lose heart and their enterprises will perish but God will save and bring to successful completion what is begun and carried out in faith.
