REFLECTION
In today’s gospel, John begins to speak the word he heard in the wilderness: people must change radically the landscape of their hearts, in Isaiah’s powerful image, and be washed in the waters of baptism, the cleansing from sin. Only then will they be ready to welcome the Lord, only then will the world see the salvation promised by God. We find Isaiah’s imagery also in the first reading, but now it is God who levels the land to make easy and safe his people’s journey toward the new Jerusalem. Today, tears; one day, jubilation! God the Eternal One will live with us and we will share in the glory of his holiness. What delight God will take in us! Already Good News of Jesus’ ministry brings joy to those who share it; St. Paul prays for the continued growth of Christians’ love of one another. Love above all prepares us for Jesus’ coming on the great Day.

SHARELIFE CAMPAIGN
Living the Gospel through ShareLife
Your year-end gift will double in value! From now until the end of 2022, your contribution to our parish’s ShareLife campaign will be matched by an anonymous donor up to a total of $1 million. Our parishioners’ support of ShareLife is making a difference in the lives of those in need. Last year, ShareLife supporters like you enabled 21,000 people to receive affordable mental health care through family service agencies across the Archdiocese of Toronto, including our community.
Our goal this year is $106,000. To date we have achieved $84,600. Please give using a ShareLife envelope, online through our parish website, or at sharelife.org/donate.
CHRISTMAS BELLS
Saturday, December 10th, 2022
6pm—9 pm
Join us for an evening of fun for the whole family! Christmas caroling, yummy refreshments, Bingo and kids crafts, profes-sional family photos, dancing and a visit from Santa and the Grinch. This event is free!
CHILDREN'S LITURGY IS BACK
It is held during the first part of Mass. The children are invited to the Sacristy to follow the Liturgy of the Word at their level. They hear the same Gospel that is proclaimed in Mass. Just before the gifts are brought up, the children return to their pew and join their family, to continue the Mass.
We are looking for volunteers. We welcome students in grade 7 to post-secondary and adults to the team of Children’s Liturgist. There are many roles and responsibilities available so if you are interested, please contact Lavern Walters at lavgwalters@gmail.com.
