REFLECTION
Instead of the story of Bethlehem, this oldest of Christmas Masses tells the meaning of the incarnation. St. John recites the pre-history of Jesus Christ: the Word, existing before time, coming from God and equal with God, is made flesh and shares our mortal condition. God speaks his Word: in the man Jesus we encounter God. As perfect image of the Father, Christ makes God’s glory visible in the world. Now we can know and see him! In sharing our life Christ shows us its full meaning. Never before has God done that, the letter to Hebrews reminds us. This Son shares God’s own majesty now reveals him fully. God becomes human in Jesus is the Good News of salvation for our world. Today’s liturgy bids us to pay attention to God’s messenger who brings peace, happiness and salvation and ushers in God’s rule. God has immersed himself in the world to redeem us. We have reason to sing and shout for joy.

SHARELIFE CAMPAIGN
Let us say yes to living the Gospel
Your year-end gift will double in value! From now until the end of 2022, your contribution to our parish’s ShareLife campaign will be matched by an anonymous donor up to a total of $1 million.
Our faith community has always responded heroically to the needs around us, particularly through our enthusiastic support of ShareLife. We can help alleviate the suffering of those whose lives have been upended by the pandemic. Let us say yes to Jesus' call to live the Gospel by providing for those in need.
