REFLECTION
The raising of Lazarus prepares us for Jesus’ own resurrection. He faces his enemies’ hate to go to Bethany, home of his close friends. To Martha he reveals Christianity’s greatest truth: his own person is life-giving, for time and eternity. He is Resurrection and life. There he weeps with emotion at seeing Mary’s tears. It is his gift of life to Lazarus which will bring his own life-giving death. Through the prophet Ezekiel God had promised life to his people; he gives it in Christ Jesus, who is both Lord and friend, and who poured out his life for us. Our concern should not be how much we love Jesus the Lord, but rather that he first loved us– so humanly, so unstintingly, that only his death could express that love’s depth. Once Jesus called Lazarus from the grave in response to his friends’ sorrow. If we affirm our belief in Christ as life, his Spirit will live in us and we will be God’s own. Then some day Jesus will call each of us by name to everlasting friendship with him face to face.

PAVING OF THE PARKING LOT
We have received approval to proceed with the paving of the parking lot to the west of the church. This will provide us with an additional 76 parking spots. A sketch will be posted shortly in the Narthex of what the parking lot will look like. We have started submission of applications to the city for the permits to proceed. We expect to receive these permits by mid April at which time we will go out to tender for construction. We expect the construction to occur during the summer and look to have it completed by the end of September.
