REFLECTION
Within the fifty days of Easter, the feast of the Ascension emphasizes Jesus’ return to the Father and its consequence: his charge to make disciples of the world. The letter to the Ephesians tells us that Jesus is head of the Church, his body on earth. We see him asserting this authority both in Acts and the gospel as he takes leave of his followers. Through preaching, sacramental ministry and instruction, the Church will continue Christ’s work of making disciples. The misunderstanding and doubt which characterize his followers as he says farewell make it clear that this work is God’s, not human doing. It is the Spirit of Christ who gives faith and strength to these human witnesses and makes it possible for them to continue Jesus’ work in the world. One day the entire human family will recognize God to be God, and Christ will be worshipped as king and head of humankind. To hasten that day, we join the psalmist in singing God’s praise.

NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING
Fifty years ago, the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae was released about our faith, responsible parenthood and the looming threat of contraceptives on families. As a direct response, Couple to Couple League was formed.
Hundreds of thousands of couples have been taught NFP by CCL couples over the years. Their teaching method – couple to couple – has not changed, but how they offer the classes and teach NFP has! Now they have a new NFP tracking app (PeakDay) and online classes in both English and Spanish.
Check out their websites (www.ccli.org & myparishnfp.org) to find classes, free NFP resources and other resources for you.

CARING FOR THE FATHERS WHO TAKE CARE OF US
Our beloved Fathers — the Spiritans or Congregation of the Holy Ghost has been ministering to us here at St. Joseph’s Parish for more than 50 years.
Next week, let us show them our love as they celebrate their feast day with us on the Day of Pentecost by remembering them in our prayers and through donating for their causes.
A 2nd collection will take place at next week’s Masses.
Please use the Spiritan envelopes which are available at the back of the church and in the Narthex.
FIRST FRIDAY HOLY HOUR
Starting from Friday, June 2 there will be Holy Hour from 9:30 a.m.—10:30 a.m. on First Fridays only. There will no longer be Holy Hour for other Fridays in each month.
