REFLECTION

During Easter’s fifty days of rejoicing we have time to savour the meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection. The gospel tells of the disciples’ fear (they still did not understand) changing to great joy when suddenly Christ stands among them. He brings the forgiveness won by his wounds and gives the young Church, in the power of the Spirit, his mission: to make available his forgiveness and peace. On Easter the disciples were slow to believe; later, Thomas demands the concrete proof which faith does not require. But his scepticism gives way, when Christ appears, to the strongest expression of faith found in the gospels. His confession evokes our faith, who have not seen and yet believe. The first two readings show the effects of the risen Lord’s presence: the community formed at Easter stands out for its common prayer and mutual love, while the individual believer looks forward in glorious joy to seeing the risen Lord. Trials cannot wipe out the joy of those who believe. One day we will see fully!

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY – APRIL 3, 2016

A special celebration for the Feast of Divine Mercy will take place from 2:30-4:00pm on Sunday, Apr. 3rd beginning at 2:30pm with EXPOSITION AND AN HOUR OF ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT and concluding with BENEDICTION and PUBLIC VENERATION OF THE DIVINE MERCY IMAGE. Also, Father will bless Divine Mercy Images you bring with you.

REFRESHMENTS will be served in the Hall after the service. All are welcome! ‘Finger food’ donations are gratefully accepted. God is Mercy itself but He is also just. As Jesus said to St. Faustina, “Right before I come as the just one, I first open wide the gates of My Mercy. He who does not want to pass through the gates of mercy will have to pass through the gates of justice.”

On this Feast of His Mercy, Jesus said, “the very depths of My Mercy will be opened.” Come, ask, completely trust, and receive the “whole ocean of graces” Jesus wants to “pour out upon those souls who will approach the Fount of My Mercy.” Contemplate, on this day, the Mystery of Redemption as the greatest revelation on Divine Mercy towards us.
