Reflection

Today’s reading set forth the holiness which God expects of his people. The ideal of perfect love, which our Old Testament reading demonstrates in his life and death, is based on God’s own holiness. In the words of the psalm we recall how God has forgiven and redeemed us; we must act toward one another with the same spirit of forgiving love. Even our enemies and our persecutors must be loved.

Christ demands of us only what he will practise himself. Christian maturity means that we imitate God in this perfect love. The law of holiness, given to the community by Moses, is explained in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. The believing community is the body of the risen Christ and the new temple of the living God.

It is through our relationship with Christ that we become children of our heavenly Father and through the spirit living in us that we learn that unselfish love by which we imitate the Father.

Family of Faith Campaign Update

A year ago we completed the Family of Faith

campaign. In total, our parishioners pledged $820,005.00 of which St. Joseph’s will receive $267,500.00 once all pledges are collected. A heartfelt thanks to all the families and individuals that contributed to this campaign.

In order for our campaign to be completed, we need to collect the full amount pledged. As of Dec. 2016 80% of pledges are actively being fulfilled.

There are 20% of pledges that cannot be collected because of missing information, such as credit card expiry, etc. These pledges amount to over $190,000 of which $110,000 is earmarked for our parish projects. This can seriously impact some of the projects underway at St. Joseph’s. If your pledge falls into this category, please contact the Donation Dept. at campaign@archtoronto.org or call 416-934-3400 ext. 555 to complete the transaction.

Many thanks for your attention to this matter and your continued support.

Living the Gospel

We knew there had to be a reason we were not conceiving on our own. We worked with the FertilityCare Toronto doctors and our practitioner for 15 months and I had another surgery shortly thereafter to repair the Fallopian tube. After only two effective cycles, I was pregnant! I was closely monitored through regular blood work during the entire pregnancy. At 38 weeks and 3 days, I delivered our healthy and happy baby boy. Words cannot express how grateful we are to the FertilityCare Toronto and the staff for all their assistance. FertilityCare Toronto treats their patients with the greatest amount of respect and care. I have never felt so in control of my fertility as I do today.

Thank you ShareLife and FertilityCare Toronto!
