REFLECTION
This weeks Gospel reading provides us with the opportunity to look at what is most important in life. So often we can become fixated on getting ahead and getting richer materially. The reading however reminds us of the irreversible tragedy that results from worshipping material riches. What is our reaction to the plight of the world’s poor, migrants and refugees? Are we like the people of Amos’ time who sit on the lap of luxury while our civilization crumbles? Let us give thanks to God’s invitation to enrich our lives spiritually by living more selflessly and responding to the needs of the less fortunate in our community that we may find true joy and spiritual riches in God’s Kingdom.
