REFLECTION

When God reveals his glory, we are struck by God’s holiness and our unworthiness, and inspired to redirect our lives. We become God’s faithful servants. So it was with Isaiah the prophet, Paul the persecutor turned apostle, and those simple fishermen called by Jesus to be leaders of the Church. In the Gospel, Jesus is teaching an eager crowd, prototype of the Church; they press close, so he moves from the shore to Simon’s boat to continue his preaching. Then he asks Simon for a small act of faith: to fish once more despite the night’s last of success. In the unexpected catch— a revelation of God’s power—Simon recognizes Jesus’ majesty; he prostrates himself and confess his sin. Now he and his companions enter into a new relationship with Jesus. They readily follow, and they will seek more followers. Another word for following the Lord is faithfulness, and this is what St. Paul demands: fidelity to the Gospel he preached, especially to the resurrection. In the risen Christ, God’s glory is fully manifested.

CWL Ordinandi Spiritual Bouquet

The CWL would like to invite St. Joseph’s Community as well as all CWL Members to contribute to our Annual collection of Prayers, Adorations, Rosaries etc. for the intentions of the soon to be ordained Priests. This Bouquet of Prayers will be presented at the Annual Ordinandi Dinner on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025. Our support is most appreciated by these men. If you are interested in contributing to this endeavor, please see the sisters of CWL who will be at the exits of the church and in the Narthex after the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, February 15th and after all masses on Sunday, February 16th. There is no cost involved, just your time spent in prayer for the soon to be ordained priests.

Anyone interested in attending the Ordinandi dinner (tickets are $100) please contact Philomena Menezes at philo.cwl@gmail.com. St. Barnabas Parish is organizing a bus to the Ordinandi dinner and if you are looking for a ride, please contact Winsome Fletcher at 416-321-1222.

Did you know?

  1. That praying the Rosary is a good practice but never to be done while the Mass is still going on?
  2. That there is confession here in the parish every Saturday at 4 pm. Every first Friday after the 9 am Mass, and by appointment during the parish office hours?
  3. That it is deeply sinful to go to confession and still intentionally leave out confessing certain sins?
