REFLECTION

“I was dead and now I am to live for ever.” This exultant Easter message is proclaimed on the Lord’s Day, our Sunday. The book of Revelation describes a remarkable vision–of someone invested by God as judge of the world, someone who is both king and priest. It is the same glorified Jesus who, as the gospel recounts, appeared to the disciples on Easter evening to bring them the joy of his presence and the peace of forgiveness. At that time they were given the responsibility of witnessing to Jesus’ victory over sin and death. They were empowered to hand on their Lord’s forgiveness of sins to the countless generations after them who would also find their hope and joy in the living Christ. The reading from Acts shows the steady growth of the young Church as the words and deeds of the faithful attract others. The work of the risen Lord is underway; we are to continue it. Every Sunday we believers gather before God in worship to deepen our vision and gain new purpose and strength for carrying on Christ’s work of reconciliation.

SACRED HEART OF JESUS STATUE

For many years, our Parish has devoted the First Friday of each month to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus with the Eucharistic

Celebration, Adoration and Novena Prayers, with special intention for the increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

This Jubilee Year 2025, we are planning to celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 27, 2025, with the blessing of a 58” statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

We humbly ask for your generous support for the purchase of the

statue. Special blue “Sacred Heart of Jesus Statue Offering”

envelopes are available at the back of the church. Please include your church envelope number and drop it in the collection basket.

Thank you and May God continue to bless you.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY – April 27, 2025

The Annual Novena prayed as preparation for Divine Mercy Sunday begins on Good Friday; anyone wishing to pray it together with others should meet at the Divine Mercy Image (beside the confessional) after any Good Friday service and after each 9:00 a.m. Mass during Easter week.

Find information and novena pamphlets at the church exits and see bulletin boards for details of the special Holy Hour of Adoration & Benediction to be held at 3:00 p.m. on Divine Mercy Sunday itself.

Blessed Carlo Acutis

Blessed Carlo Acutis

Blessed Acutis was a millennial known for championing devotion to the Holy Eucharist by creating a website called “Eucharistic Miracles of the World”. His life of profound love to all, especially the disadvantaged, serves to inspire many from all walks of life. One among Blessed Acutis’s famous quotes is: “People who place themselves before the sun get a tan; people who place themselves before the Eucharist become saints.”

Blessed Pier Giogio Frassati

Blessed Frassati was known for his charitable outreach, caring for the poor, the homeless, the sick, and the demobilized service men and women returning from World War I. His motto as a climber: “Verso L’Alto” meaning “to the heights,” continues to inspire many to strive for the summit of eternal life with Christ
