REFLECTION

We are reminded today of our human vulnerability and deep need for God’s nourishment . Just as the legendary pelican feeds her young with her own blood in times of famine, so too does Christ give of himself completely to feed, sustain, and comfort us. St. Thomas Aquinas referenced this image in his hymn Adoro te devote, recognizing it as a symbol of Christ’s sacrificial love in the Eucharist. In the Gospel, Jesus instructs his disciples to feed the hungry crowd, showing that God does not leave his people to fend for themselves. He satisfies our spiritual hunger with His body and Blood, nourishing us in a miraculous, intimate way at every Mass.

Our Lady’s Grotto Project

Join in Building a Parish Grotto of Mother Mary.

We invite you to be part of this special parish project by donating towards a Grotto Stone or more in ‘Memory of a Loved One’.

Please donate $50 for each Grotto Stone. To donate, place the following in the special Grotto envelope:

  1. Your donation
  2. The name(s) of your loved one(s).

Also, write your name and parish envelope number on the same special Grotto envelope and place it in the collection basket.

In appreciation of your generosity at the completion of the Grotto:

  1. There will be a parish special Mass of Thanksgiving for all the donors, of course every parishioner is welcome to attend this Mass,
  2. The names of the loved ones of every single donor will be compiled and memorialized in a canister to be enclosed inside the Grotto’s foundation base. So, YOUR LOVED ONE’S NAME WILL NOT BE WRITTEN ON THE GROTTO STONES YOU MADE A DONATION FOR.
  3. A prayer plaque with a general appreciation of all the donors will be mounted on the façade of the Grotto’s foundation stone base. So, NO INDIVIDUAL DONOR’S NAME WILL BE WRITTEN ON THE PLAQUE

Thanks for your generosity!

Jubilee 2025 – Month of the Sacred Heart

As Pilgrims of Hope during this Jubilee Holy Year, we reflect on Pope Francis’ words:

Hope is born of love and based on the love springing from the pierced heart of Jesus upon the cross.

In this month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us pray for a deepening of Christ’s love in our hearts and for our bishops and priests—especially during the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests on Friday, June 27.

Mark your calendars for the Archdiocesan Jubilee Pilgrimage to the Martyrs’ Shrine with Cardinal Leo and the Auxiliary Bishops on Sunday, August 24, 2025, as we also celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Shrine and the 400th Anniversary of the first Mass in Huronia.

Further information and registration will follow in the weeks to come.

“That Blessed Upper Room” – Pastoral Letter from Frank Cardinal Leo

Frank Cardinal Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto, has released “That Blessed Upper Room,” a pastoral letter inviting the faithful of the archdiocese to reflect together on the significance of The Upper Room in our lives, our families and in our communities of faith as this story is so directly connected to pivotal events in the life of Jesus and of the early Church. The letter is divided into nine chapters, drawing on dimensions of our Catholic Christian life.

A short video introduction and the full pastoral letter can be accessed by visiting: www.archtoronto.org/thatblessedupperroom

Feel free to share the letter with family and friends.

Did you know?

  1. After their First Holy Communion, your children and grandchildren must regularly go for Confession and not wait till about another 4 years, typically around the time of their Confirmation to go for Confession?
  2. You must be in a state of grace, that is, you must not be guilty of any of the sins in the 10 Commandments, before receiving Holy Communion?
  3. Receiving Holy Communion while staying away from Confession for a long time is a very big sin?
