REFLECTION

During Advent, we recall Christ’s birth and look forward to His coming again in glory. Today, we also pause to rejoice, for the Lord is near. In the Gospel, Jesus praises John the Baptist as the greatest born of women, yet reminds us that “the least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.” This reveals the astonishing dignity God desires for each of us: to share in His life, His healing, and His glory. Why did Jesus choose to become human? The readings today remind us: God wants to heal us. Jesus comes not only to heal our physical needs, but to restore our hearts and to purify, sanctify, and lift us closer to Himself. As we journey toward Christmas, our hope becomes deeply personal. We await the healing work of Christ within us. This work He has begun, continues now, and will bring to completion. May this Gaudete Sunday fill our hearts with joyful expectation.

See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you

Are you one to be sent?  If God is calling you, contact Fr. Matt McCarthy, Director of Vocations, Archdiocese of Toronto at 416-968-0997.

DID YOU KNOW

The priests in our parish need Saturdays to prepare to serve us all well when we gather for Sunday Masses?
Monday to Friday works best in our parish for having such events as Weddings or Funerals, once the priests' schedules permit and there's no pre-booked event going on in the church?
While we can do a Wedding or a Funeral on Saturday in our parish, we strongly advise that Saturdays be avoided for these events when possible?
