REFLECTION
Every year Christmas unites the weary and warring human family for a few days of rejoicing. Each year, we are surprised anew at the richness of God’s gift to us of Christ. From contemplating this gift we learn the meaning of self-giving love. Today’s Mass centers on human school of love, the family. Sirach comments on the fourth commandment, to honor one’s parents. The last verses of Colossians draw on a pre-Christian household code, but it’s first two sections are remarkable within a patriarchal culture for their fully Christian values: relationships are based on mutual love and forgiveness rather than subordination. With such love, God sent his son. The gospel readings remind us that the Holy Family was not spared the pain, separation, and need for trust experienced by those who love. Our suffering can be transformed by imitating Christ’s love—a love which he learned from his parents. The miracle of Christmas assures us that God boundlessly enriches our everyday lives when lived with love.
By Baptism, we are God's holy family today. Pray for the grace to live faithfully your vocation as a single, married, ordained or consecrated person.
If God is calling you, contact Fr. Matt McCarthy, Director of Vocations, Archdiocese of Toronto at 416-968-0997.

Important Update on Parish Envelope Numbers
Due to rising costs and decreased envelope use, envelope numbers will be reassigned effective in year 2027. Beginning in 2027, envelope numbers will be reassigned annually to help us use resources wisely. Unused envelope boxes will be reassigned, and boxes will not be issued the following year if they are not used.
If you donate through Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG), please consider switching to a boxless number. Your donations will continue to be tracked by number, without the cost of envelope boxes. “2nd Collections only” envelopes can also be provided if needed.
If you have any questions, please contact us at 416-282-0370.
BEFORE YOU FIX YOUR WEDDING DATE
Thinking about doing your wedding in the Church? Great move! The way to go is to call the parish office and schedule an appointment with the priest at least 12 months before your desired wedding date. It is a requirement in the Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto. Hoping for the best for you as you process and make this important life-long decision

DID YOU KNOW
| The baby in the manger is the same Jesus we receive in the Eucharist, God still choosing to come so close to us? (Luke 2:16; Matthew 26:26) | |
| Christmas is the shocking truth that God chose to be born into a messy, stressful, imperfect, ordinary world, just like ours, so He understands real life, including yours? (John 1:14; Luke 2:7; Hebrews 4:15) | |
| The Nativity scene shows us that God chose closeness over comfort and love over luxury and that Christmas joy isn’t about escaping problems but knowing God is with us in the middle of them all? (Matthew 1:23; 2 Corinthians 8:9) |
