Reflection

John’s gospel shows us what is most important about the community formed around the risen Lord that first Easter evening. The newborn Church receives the peace and forgiveness of Jesus and shares it with others. Faith in Jesus as Lord, beginning with the resurrection appearances, results in the loving solidarity we see in Acts. Seeing is believing, insisted Thomas, who was absent from the first reunion with the risen Lord. His doubt was satisfied, strengthening the testimony of the first witnesses. But Jesus invites us to a faith which endures without proof or miracle, a faith which accepts the word of his Church. The Christian life, as John’s letter tell us, is faith in Jesus as God’s Son and love of God demonstrated by love for one another. The truth of Jesus’ sonship, shown at his baptism and confirmed on the cross, is taught to us by the Spirit. From this unshakable faith flows the love which unites and reconciles, the certain sign of Christ’s transforming presence in the world.

SHARELIFE

Living the Gospel through immediate mental health services

Mental health problems can escalate if not addressed quickly. That’s why the five Catholic Family Services agencies in the Archdiocese of Toronto now offer walk-in counselling. This initiative can often meet client’s needs without requiring longer term counselling. Clients report a clinically significant increase in confidence that they can tackle their problems. By supporting ShareLife, you’re helping restore hope to those in crisis.

April 22nd is the next ShareLife Sunday.

Please give generously.

YOUTH MINISTRY

EDGE

Do you know that the word “sacrifice” comes from 2 Latin words: sacer (Sacred or Holy) and facere (to make). In EDGE we chose Lenten sacrifices that would help “make us Holy”. We also made Lenten Pretzels and participated in a Shadow Stations of the Cross.
